The Old Testament of the Bible is the history and culture of my Jewish people. The New Testament is the story of one Jew, Jesus.

I’ve watched Pianist and Schindler’s List before, and they all described Jews’ suffering and struggling experience during World War II. Pianist was narrated from the perspective of Jews, while Schindler’s List was of a Nazi businessman, but Jews all got away from persecution and achieved peace finally.
And I recommend another film called life is beautiful, telling us how Jews saved themselves with an optimistic attitude. It is a really meaningful comedy.

My hometown is Harbin. There are a lot of things about Jews, such as churches, stores and cemeteries. I have seen the movie Exodus. It’s tell us the story of Moses, who is the most important one in Jews’ history except Jesus. The miracles in Exodus such as dividing the Red sea make me exciting. And in this movie, we can know some cultural about Jews such as the Sabbath. I think Jews is one of the most great people in the history of human.
My first expression of the suffering experience of Jews in world warⅡ came from the movie of Schindler’s List. I were very shocked about the treatment of Jews. It was really a disaster not just for the jews but also for the whole world. And I recommend a book also about the Jews which is The Diary of Anne Frank, it is real and moved.
One of my friends recommended the reader to me before. I think this movie talks more about the nature of human being. Hanna applied for the Nazi just to conceal the fact that she was illiterate. She knew nothing about Nazi or the war, and just fellow the directions. After the war she was accused for the atrocities on the concentration camp, and she accepted all the accusations without any appeal. While her lover, Michael, a lawyer who knew the truth, entangled with love and moral repentance, and didn’t reveal the fact that Hanna was impossible to take the main responsibility for the atrocities at last. In this movie, Michael keeps reading to Hanna. But actually it’s the movie reading the history, the nature of human being, the law and moral, and the punishment and forgiveness to us.
Jewish history was full of tribulations. And as we all know, they made a great contribution to the world. Marx, Einstein, Steven Spielberg, there are so many celebrities are Jewish. Some years ago, I watched the Schindler’s List. It was a stirring film.I just want to say :we are the world. If we can love each other, the world will be better.

I have ever watched “The Reader”, it’s fantastic. From a totally different viewpoint to describe not only the hurt to both side of people brought by war but also the dignity to be civilized. The heroine in that movie, I forget her name, could clear herself of charge for murder by accepting she do not recognize a single word, but she refused to clear and admit the guilt which she did not commit. By the way, the young boy’s love with that woman also shocked me a lot.
The movie “Jerusalem”，”Munich”，”Nuremberg Trials”，”Pianist”，”Schindler’s List” and “Ten Commandments” , which I have seen before, make the person feel very shocked. Among them, ”Schindler’s List” still remains fresh in my memory. The Nazi’s behavior done to the Jews is so cruel that I feel very sad. For example, anyone who protested, was uncooperative, elderly or sick would be shoot. Where was human rights? The massacre of the Nazi done to the Jews was really brutal and inhuman. However, Schindler is not only a successful businessman, but also is a kind-hearted man. He used his own wisdom and intelligence saving many Jews. In my eyes, Schindler is one of the great images of the Peacemaker. He who saves the life of one man, saves the world entire.
Thank you for recommend so many movies for us to learn more about the Jews. To be honest, I am not familiar with such nation, and have no idea about them. It is said that the Jewish people are the cleverest in the world. Maybe a little exaggerate the fact, but I really appreciate the perseverance of them. They suffered the hardship and struggling themselves out of the strain. They never lost there heart and performed well in every aspects of the world. I think it will be a good chance to learn more to educate ourselves by watching the movies.
When people talk about Jews, they will be amazing of the consistence of the Jew’s culture. As you know, the Jews used to be a tramp nation, and they were separated anywhere. The most amazing thing is they kept their own culture instead of taking sovereign’s culture. So, they, by one side, kept a unique ethnic character; by another side, they were misunderstood and persecution.
But, there was an exception. In China, the Jews accepted Chinese culture, and they were unbelievable absorbed as a Chinese. The last Jew community in China was disappeared in 19th century.

I don’t know much about the Jews and their culture, but just watched the movie Schindler’s List. Indeed, it is a great movie with the touching plot, black and white pictures and profound depiction. Although a myriad of Jews were kill by the German military, Schindler, a Germen merchant, saved hundreds and thousands Jews by pretending recruit workers, as if atoning for German’s crime. The last part of the film, the only part rendered color, manifest that there is no gap between German and Jew but gratitude, at least for them.
I saw the Schindler’s List last summer vacation and this movie was directed by Steven Spielberg.It impressed me.I remembed that there is a little girl who weared a red hat in this movie,she tried to escape the murder of german army,she entered a house and keeped herself under a bed,but finally was killed brutally. A little girl was massacred in the world.A beautiful life lost in the world. Schindler who was a Nazi businessman witnessed the whole process of her death and he feeled ashamed and shocked,so he decided to do something for Jews and protect them from extinction. He spended almost all his money on saving about 1,000 jews. A businessman could have such action,I was deeply impressed.I am not sure about the jewish history although I have wached this movie.Thanks to the book called The Diary of Anne Frank which was recommended by Fiona in Class two and the website was recommended by Francis in Class three,All of things make me get a lot of information about the Jews and the culture, it appears that I have a lot of jobs to do. Finally, of course I would like to thank for the English learning platform which was provided by professor Martin who gave us so many interesting topics to discuss and reflect.
I’m sorry that I am not very familiar to these flims. And I’ve learned something about Jews in the class of foreign literature, which is required class in our department. And to get further understanding to Jews I ‘ll see more flims above.
Among the movies that Professor has listed, I have only watched “Schindler’s List”. Well, it really shocks me a lot. I can still remember some scène of this movie, although I watched it several years ago. Schindler was a business man who used Jewish labor to work for his factory in Poland. When World War II was going to an end, more and more Jews were killed by Nazi. Schindler thought it was wrong to kill these people, so he spent all his money to save more and one thousand Jews.
In my opinion, human sympathy is the most amazing point of this movie. Then I completely admire Schindler’s noble character. Nowadays, some companies are too eager to pursue profit, even at the risk of sacrificing others’ life. For instance, milk with melamine, poison rice. I strongly hope that our Chinese entrepreneurs learn a good lesson from this movie.
I am sorry that none of the movies I had seen, because I did not have the habit to see English movies before, and there are so many books to read of my study field that, what I can do is after some time to download some to make up. Anyway, referring to the Jews, I heard that they are very clever and good at doing business, a lot of great men of philosophy or science are the Jews , who contribute a lot to the human beings .
The story of pianist is start like this. During the World War II, a talented Jewish pianist in Poland, he always hides so as not to fall into the claws of the Nazis. In Jewish district of Warsaw, He suffers hunger, torture and all kinds of humiliation, in a day under the threat of death. He escaped the carpet search, hiding in the ruins of the city. Fortunately, his musical talent touched the hearts of a German naval officer, under the protection of the officers who risk his life, pianist wait until the war was finally over, ushered in the dawn of freedom. When I have watched this movie, I think that the Nazis is very terrible, at the some time I admire the pianist who didn’t give up and hold on until the last, in our life I need this minding.
Schindler’s List is the first movie about Jews I’ve ever seen. In WWII Jews suffered much pain in Nazi’s despotic rule and massacre, no one wanna have a flash-back to that period. Maybe only Chinese people in the war against Japanese army can image that situation the Jews in. Full of wisdom is the most direct impression of Jews in Chinese people’s eyes. So Jews are rich in commercial affairs and business.
The Jews are a legend to me since childhood because of the Bible and my family’s Christian faith. It seems that the relationship between Christianity and Judaism are very complex, so are the relations between Westerners and Jews.
I dislike war films like most girls. But I was deeply moved by Life is beautiful before and now is totally shocked by Schindler’s List. I cannot move the scene of the little girl’s red skirt out of my mind, I cannot forget Amon Goeth’s firm voice:“Today is history. Today will be remembered.” War, racial inequality, belief, money, passion, nation, surviving, invading, persistence, all of these simulate us think about human qualities.

When I was a sophomore, I learned a course called “The History of Western Philosophy”. In the class ,our teacher introduced us something about Christianity. I saw the movie of The Reader about two weeks ago. I had heard of this movie before my watching, and it turned out to be up to its favorable comments. It tells us a special story between a young man and a forty-years old lady shortly after the second World War with the background of concentration camp. The movie discussed the humanness of a common woman living during the age of Hitler in German, who worked in the concentration to watch these so-called prisoners for survive, while who was fond of making people read for her as she was illiteracy. She was so usual a women that you cann’t image how she would do that in the concentration camp. And the fact was that she never realized what she had done in the concentration camp had something to do with justice. It was just a kind of common job and she had obligation to finish her job. She was very sincere when she was on the court. I was so deeply shocked by her word. Many evil done by man is never caused by some bad guy, just the common people without any education or enlightenment will easily become one part of that. As last she hanged herself the day before she was released from prison for her realizing her crimes after she had learned to read and write in the prison on her own.
Some people said that the Jews is the most smart nation in the world. Some people said that they are the most sly person because they are good at doing commerce. But I feel that they own a sorrowful history and forced to leave their home always. I just say: please be tolerant to them.
I do not know much about the Jews and their history. My first impression about the nation came from the Italy film “Life is beautiful”. I was so shocked and still remember the Jews’ encounters in the film. The Nazi is so cruel to killed all old Jews and forced young Jews to do hard work. What moved me most is how the father protected his kid in the severe circumstances. He wanted his kid would have beautiful life and not leave scarred in the future, he tell the kid they are play a game.

After watching the film of “Schindler’s List”, I cannot crying because the Jewish people so miserable and poor in the control of the Nazi. What impress me in the film is that a beautiful young girl shouting “goodbye the Jewish and throw the stone to those were forced out of their homes”. I love the Jewish’s struggle, reconstruction of courage, and the rise of flexibility, it is the reasons why the Jewish has the ability making themselves belong the one of the most richest peoples in the word. They has no nation, no government, but they unity each other tightly to surprise the whole world.
I have watched the movie Schindler’s List. I was so shocked by the it that I just couldn’t keep my mouth closed. Every scene of this movie was really depressive. In the movie, there was a lovely little boy who tried every place to hind himself from the kid-massacre, but he found no place available for him. At last, he had to jump into the hole in the toliet, however, there were already two kids there. He was asked to get out of there. At that moment, he raised his head, his eyes filled with desperation. At the same time, my heart broken. There was another little girl in red, the only bright color in the movie. Maybe she was the little hope gaven to us, then she was found in a cart which used to convey Jews’ dead bodies. Then, there was no hope left. After the movie, I couldn’t calm down. Human beings, not only Jews, but also other peoples, have suffered a lot in all kind of wars, however, human beings seem never get lessons from that, there are still wars or fights all over the world.
Pianist and Schindler’s List are both in my favorite movie list. I love them because they tell part of the history and some special living conditions at that time. I love the music and the story in Pianist, the courage and emotion in Schindler’s List and the good humanity shown at that hard time in both of the two movies. In addition I recommend a movie with the name of “La vita è bella”. It’s not an English movie (maybe you can find an English version), but is a very good movie about the Jews. A show named “The Big Bang Theory” is also in my recommendation list. Howard, one of the 5 main characters is a Jew, and lots of their conversations are about Jews. I find it very interesting and know much about the Jews from that.

I have seen the Schindler’s List and The Reader. The Jews had suffered a lot during the world War Ⅱ. I have sympathy on those people which had similar experience slaughter as people of China in that period of history. When I saw the Schindler’s List, I just felt deeply sad. But when I saw The Reader, I was shocked by the heroine who didn’t realize what she did was something wrong, she just thought she did these things for complete her job. And the other women on the prisoner’s seat of the Court should be blamed more, but they are escape from punished. Which made me confused about what is the justice and what is the best way to pay back to those suffered people.
I have watched Inglorious Bastards,Ten Commandments,and I have watched Inglorious Bastards recently.This film show us how cruel the war is and also show us what a hard life the jews have in the second world war.Nobody can deny the existence of other ethnic ,ervry ethnic will fight to the end.China have been invaded by Japan,at the first ,Chinese nation has experienced hard time,but we defeated the Japan,we got the victory.However the Japan has always been denying the villainy they did in China.So we should respect any others nations in the world.All of us have the right to survive.
The Reader shocks me a lot and I can’t help recalling a scene that Hanna asked the judge: If you were me, what would you do? In the 1950s, most of youth condemn their previous generation for their sin, not to prevent the massacre. However, Hanna hardly recognizes that it is guilty and she just tries her best to carry out the duty. The question that is mentioned before would be raised to everyone. Hannah Arendt, a philosopher, considered such question for Mediocre evil, which maybe the most terrible evil in our world.
I have seen Schindler’s List a long time before and I only remember some pieces of the movie or the totally plot. It’s about how a business protected many Jews in his factory in The Second World War. He asked the Jews work for him nominally but gave them a safety home and an identification which can promise their safe. It is a little like the Chinese movie NanjingNajing.
The Reader is a hot movie nominated by Oscar last year and I watched it at that time. It is a story about Second World War which is described in another angle. I was movied by the movie and I don’t think it’s a movie focused on Jews. But, we still learn a lot about what Jews suffered in the cruel war.
Jews are clever and do much to promote the development of our whole world for the lot of Jewish scientists. They suffered much that imposed on them by some haughty nation. The history merged in the time river. There should not be any discrimination in the world to any notion any more.

I am surprised that the movie “life is beautiful” is not included in the list. Although I have watched “Pianist” and “the reader” which are wonderful movies, my favorite movie about the jews and the second world war is “life is beautiful”.
In this movie, an Italian Jewish man and his wife, together with his five years old son were prisoned in the concentration camp. Life in the concertration is unbelievably misery and non-humanitarianism. Father tries every way to protect his son and brings hapiness and laughters to his beautifuf princess and little angel. I can’t help smiling at the humorous father, but even when i am laughing, my eyes are full of tears because of the incomparable great paternal love.
Life is beautiful is one of the best movies that i have ever seen.

I had known about Jews in the history book when I was a child, I felt great mercy at the moment. When I grew up, I could know much more about Jews by other ways, such as movies. The deepest affection I have for the Jews is the hard times they had experienced in WWⅡ. The world famous scientist Albert Einstein was a Jew, he escaped to the U.S because Hitler wanted to kill all of the Jews. About 5,000 Jews came to China for help, the Chinese helped them at the dangerous moment. We hate the war, we hate the racial discrimination.

I have watched “Schindler’s List”, “Reader” among which movies Professor has listed.Besides,”Life is beautiful” “The boy in the striped pyjamas” described the suffering experience of Jews in world warⅡalso shocked me alot .Especially, “The boy in the striped pyjamas” gave me a deep impression .So I can’t help suggesting this movie here. The film was set in auschwitz, the largest concentration camp Nazi Germany built during World War II.Bruno, the nazi officer’s son moved there and then made friend with a jewish boy called Shmuel. Altough they lived in two completely different worlds. In the end the Nazi soldiers killed Bruno who dressed the striped prison clothes as the jews. Through the innocent kid’s perspective and experience ,the story told us war was so crazy and ruthless that kind-hearted people were hurt no matter which side they stood.I t made me deeply feel that peace is precious.
I am always show my great admired to the Jews.As far as I know,Jews is the most smartest nation in the world.Einstein,one of the most important scientists in the world.Most of the millionairess in the Wall Street are Jews. Israel,a country of Jews,has won many wars with other countries.

Several years ago,my syster give me a book named ‘Jews teach you to being a real human’.The answer can be found in this book.Till now, I cann’t remember it correctly.But there are several points really impress me.For one thing,Jews pay high attention to the education.During the war the Jews can drop anything but not including Talmud,an bible in the Jews.The old citizens believe that they can rebuild their home with the knowledge from the Talmud.But if the Talmud was lost or burned in the war,the nation of Jews would extinguish.For another,Jews pay much attention to solidarity.When some Jews are earn the lives in the outside,they will help each other to deal with the difficulties.The last but not least,Jews are good at running business.Of course ,they are not born to be a businessman.In the ancient,businessman was an kind of job which was being prejudiced as a low social status.So there were few people to do this job.Jews didn’t take care of this.They took this jobs.So today you will find it not surprised there are so many millionairess are Jews.
Maybe the experience of the Jews will give Chinese an good example.Of course,we Chinese are as smart as Jews.But we are lake of solidarity.One Chinese is a dragon,but two Chinese are worns.We Chinese cann’t fight together.Maybe this is one of the reason why we failed the war with The Eight-Power Allied Forces.And it is olso one of the reason why the war with Japannese last 8 years.We also lake of education.In some areas of China,children can’t receive enough education because their unwisdom parents want they children to earn money.Another case in point is the scholars don’t receive enough respect.Sometimes the scholars even can’t get enough money to afford their lives.Chen Jingrun is the very example.

I have watched the movies Ben Hur, Schindler’s List and Pianist before, and I like them. I hope I can watch more but I don’t have that much time. The Jews had suffered a lot in their history, especially in World War II, which is reflected in the movie Schindler’s List and Pianist. Jews are clever and they reach high achievements in various fields such as philosophy and psychology. They think they are chosen by God and waiting for salvation. The movie Ben Hur shows some scenes recorded in the Bible, how Jesus cure people and been killed. Maybe it is the faith towards God which helps the Jews went through the tough situations, but I hope that there won’t be any more suffering to them and any other people as well.
The Pianist tells us a story about a noted Jewish pianist during the second world war. It was a well-acted and dramatically moving movie. It depicted the life struggles of the pianist and conscience of human. One of a scenes in the movie touched me most. A German military office discovered the hidden pianist when he was searching for food in a ruin after bombing. He asked the pianist to play a song in a broken piano. From the tune, both of them felt the sorrow of the war and the humanity deep inside the heart. The officer didn’t kill the pianist, instead he kept sending him food until the German army retreated. Although war has destroyed everything that is precious, there is still conscience in a person’s heart, even he’s a Nazi officer.
I watched the movie Pianist. I was deeply shocked by the atrocious Germany army at that time. The experience of the Polish musician Wladyslaw Szpilman impressed me a lot. He had borne so much extraordinary things and tried his best to survive. I really think it’s the environment that makes the Jews so clever. They had to try every method to survive from the concentration camps. They should bear all the deeply personal and astonishing treatment. After I finished the movie with my roommates, we really appreciated the happy life now. When we watched movie, we even wanted to give our water to Wladyslaw Szpilman. Though we knew it’s just a movie, we could imagine the hard life the Jews lived at that time. We really wish the Jews can live equally and happily in the world.
Jews are a very great nation. They have experienced suffering, and now still play an important role in the world. I watched the film of Schindler’s List. Schindler’s List recreates the true story of Oskar Schindler, the Czech-born southern German industrialist who risked his life to save over 1,100 of his Jewish factory workers from the death camps in Nazi-occupied Poland. The film gave me a lot of thoughts and feelings. War makes many innocent people to die, to bring with it immense suffering, and I hope in the future of the world to stop the occurrence of war. That’s awful! Schindler hero, although not a perfect person, but he saved many lives, so I can not help him some respect! List is the continuation of life is the embodiment of love and humanity! Several days ago, I watched the movie Pianist. It was about a famous Polish pianist, Wladyslaw Szpilman, who tried his best endeavors to survive in World War II. In the movie, I was shocked by the cruel German Army and felt sympathized for the poor Jews. As is known to all, Jews are the smartest people in the world; especially, they are good at doing business. But why are they so clever? Maybe the answer lies in the adversity they have triumphed over for many times. What the movie moved me most is that no matter how hard the situation is, the Jews never easily give up their hope of life. And I think such positive attitude towards life is what we should learn from the Jews. Remember, adversity makes people strong.
I have watched several movies about the Jews before. But unfortunately, I have forgotten their names, or contents, or both. In fact, most of my understanding about the Jews comes from the various movies about the World War II, and the stories of the Bible. From these sources, I have formed my opinion about the Jews as a clever, diligent, and resilient nationality, which never yields to the outside forces, no matter how strong they are. There may be persecutions and concentration camps, but the Jews will always endure all of these suffering, overcome all of these challenges, and finally acquire the success they due. The Jews have brought us many valuable things—academically, there are top scientists, like Einstein; economically, the wealth and wisdom of the Jewish merchants are well known around the world; and culturally, the most influential book in the western world, the Bible, is also about the story of the Jews. In a word, the Jews is really great!
Watching the movie “Pianist” is a misery experience for me. I watched this movie when I was 18. I was a freshman in Sun Yat-sen University at that time. I was full of hope for my life and also for the world. Of course I had learned about war and massacre in history books before. I had also seen some scenes of the ongoing wars around the world from TV news. But I just treated them either as the content of text or as mere news which are reported routinely. I considered war as a stupid mistake which wise people would not make any more even though I didn’t exactly know what kind of mistake it was in real.
However, after watching the movie “Pianist”, I felt that a part of my heart which was full of hope and appreciation of life was broken. I was totally shocked by the scene that the Germany military officer ordered his soldiers to throw the handicap Jew outside the balcony merely because he couldn’t stand up following the officer’s order, and the scene that the officer made the Jews stand in a line and killed some of them arbitrarily. I was shocked by these scenes not because I couldn’t image them, but because that they were real in history. I couldn’t stop wondering why human can do such kind of things to human. What kind of stupid reasons forced them to do that? I think this question has no answer because no such kind of reasons should exist! Racism is definitely not a reason. It is just a mistake which pretended to be truth and deceived human’s emotion.
A person’s death resulted from murder can spread huge misery and hatred in the world, let alone thousands upon thousands people. I can’t help thinking that what should we do to erase such large amount of hatred left by those stupid wars.
I have seen the movie “The Pianist” two years ago. There are two scenarios that give a deep impression on me. The first scenario is when the hero and his brother waiting for lifting the ban across the street, they saw the police forced the Jews to dance, the lame, the sick and elderly, and young, but Jewish companions could do nothing but to keep silent with resentment. The other one is that a Jewish child was killed when he was trying to return from the drilled hole in the wall during curfew. The hero wanted to save him but was powerless.
Different from the serious and sensational of “Schindler’s List”,” The Pianist” is plain, without any hint of exaggeration of the narrative, like a fresh description of the entire piano music. Polanski Serenade opened the film with beautiful prelude to the bloody massacre, then ended the war with the piano and ushered in the dawn sky. This was even more painful calm.
