The beginning of any new academic semester is fraught with inevitable required adjustments. The post-graduate students (pgs) are no exception. They are required to take one semester of oral English with a foreign teacher. Most pgs have had prior undergraduate experiences with this inconsequential course where the grade does not count and more often than not, the foreign teacher has a guitar and only knows how to teach English songs. The pgs have a very strong preconceived idea of what to expect from their oral English class.
As the pgs approach their 4th floor oral English classroom they are confronted by a 200 cm x 200 cm banner.

They have no idea what “Chingland” means and “Chinglish Spoken Here” goes directly against and is directly opposed to their prior teaching that Chinglish is no good. This is the pgs first indication that something may be different.
As they approach the classroom door they look puzzled and double check the room number.

As the pgs open the door, their jaws drop, they freeze in position and get a “deer in the headlights” look. Again, they double check the assigned classroom number.

As they slowly enter the room there is a Chinese buzz. The foreign teacher actually looks like a real professor. The professor loudly announces, “This is an English class and this is an English classroom. Why am I hearing Chinese? If you want to practice your Chinese leave.”
A hush falls over the room. The pgs ask permission to be seated. The professor advises that those pgs who have brought their books and a writing utensil may be seated. All others must leave and never return unprepared again. Those who did not bring their books or writing utensils are told to leave but they remain frozen in time and space. The professor explains that coming to a pg class at China’s #8 most famous university is intolerable kindergarten behavior and the guilty students are ordered to leave.
Sometimes an entire first class must be cancelled and rescheduled at a punitive time.
On the very first day of the semester the professor draws the line in the sand and demands that the pgs act like mature, responsible, serious students or get out. They have never had such an experience in their prior 16 years of education. They are in shock!
Fortunately, the professor knows how to bring the pgs out of shock and within minutes the classroom is filled with laughter as everyone settles down to begin their semester of fun with English acquisition.

Actually I was kind of hoping that the oral English teacher would be a beautiful fairy lady with a wave of blonde hair,so when I saw Professior Martin standing at the front of the classroom greeting us,I felt a little disappointed(LOL).His luxuriant mustache was the first thing that impressed me.The mustache is so thick that his mouth is almost hidden behaind it.I figured that he must be a good-tempered teacher which was later proved wrong. He turned out to be a very strick teacher whose class has many rules and regulations for the students to follow. That’s the second thing that imprssed me.The strick tones of his got me very nervous at first, especially when I was asked to change my English name because it was actually a girl’s name.I felt quiet embarrassed at that time. And at the same time everyone else was sitting in his chair, afraid of being criticized of doing something wrong.
The tense atmosphere suddenly changed as soon as the class began.Professor Martin changed to a man who talks like our parent(in a good way of course).I could feel that he cares about us and he was doing his best to impart to us the secrets of how to learn English. The words he said was very stimulant and the man has such a wonderful sense of humor which could be counted to be the third thing that impressed me that day. I suddenly began to love this class and Martin.Professor Martin has so many interesting stories to tell because he has so many experiences and has been to so many places. He said that he was retired but not tired. He said a teacher should stop teaching whenever he stop learning. I guess that might be the reason why he chose to be a teacher after his retirement. The class was ended in a very relaxed air and we talked about the funny experience we just had during the class all the way back.
The first class, exactly the first English class in my postgraduate period really impressed me strongly. It was a special class I never had. The desks in the classroom were placed apart, and we sat in groups. Actually the most surprising thing was the red hat with “SPEAK ENGLISH” printed. At that moment an idea came to my mind that this was an interesting and distinctive teacher. That was our new English teacher, Professor Martin. He was energetic and full of passion. Also he was strict and always emphasized on his requests and instructions.I’m looking forward to the movie on Wednesday and the next class.
Saturday morning, I had a special English class .The teacher is a foreigner named Martin. He is an old man with white beard and looks so strict. At first, Martin made some rules for us, for instance, we should not speak Chinese in his class and we must say “Hello” if we get a call. What had impressed me most was that, the teacher requested us say “supercalifragilisticexpiala docious” when we answer “How do you do”. In my opinion, the answer is too inconvenient.
But every coin has two sides. Gradually, I found Martin is humorous and he always made the class full of fun. His style of teaching is also different from any other English teacher. He made us realize the significance of English. So I will make every endeavor to improve my English.
It was a really big shock for me at the beginning of the first class,I had never experienced such a real English atmosphere oral class,so I was a little nervous at the beginning. But after I taking part in the class a few minutes later,I felt that I was so lucky to have the chance to be a member of such an intresting and useful class,Professor Martin had figured out a fresh way for us to improve our English, he also described his stories in America and teaching experience in China,as you followed his description ,it just liked an amusing tourism.
It was an enjoyable class and abundant of knowledge at the same time,Ibelieved in that after the class in this term,we all will have a big improvement.
A new academic semester ,a new learning Environment. That’s right.yesterday,I went to my oral english class. As I entering the room,my teacher-an American called Martin told me that I could only speak english in this class or got out.I never had such an experience in my prior 16 years of education.I felt frozen, because I did not know how to express my thougts around foreign people.Fortunately, the professor knows how to help me.A moment later, I could enjoyed this atmosphere of only speaking english.I found that it’s an amusing thing to exchange ideas with foreign people.
This Monday I had my first oral English lesson. Our professor is a foreigner, he is very strict but very kind and impressed me deeply. He required us to speak English not chinese in the classroom, if we do not follow this requirement, we will failed in this class. My English, especially spoken English, is not good, so I was a little worried. But when the class began I recovered self-confidence. The class was very interesting! Even I can not understand the professor very well, but I realized that this was a unique learning opportunity for me to improve my spoken English and learn how to deal with my own work.
When I and classmates came into the classroom, the professor kept us from entering the door.We were all very strange. It was originally that he made a careful check of the books. This was the first experience for my learning life. My first impression of the professor was full of surprise and a bit scared. On the one hand ,he was very lovely ,small body ,fat, but he had beautiful beard, likely Santa Claus. In the classroom ,he was not only singing, but also dancing. It was absolutely not the Chinese style of classroom. On the other hand ,I could not understand what he said.I was afraid if he called me, what should I do? I spent the first oral class difficultly, and classmates smiling once in a while, I followed to smile too. In fact I did not still understand why they smiled. When class was over, I secretly told myself that I will try my best to learn English well, and dare to display myself.I will not fear the professor .
Last thursday I had my first oral English class. In that class I had my first English name though it is not very good .My English teacher is pro.Martin.He is very humorous and he is very strict.I like my oral English teacher and the oral English class. In the oral English class I released my heart and I had a good time.I learned a lot from my first oral English class, for example we should punctual and we should take to heart.
It’s a special day that comes with an impressive English class and my first foreign teacher, Professor Martin. Since we went through the door, surprises never ended. I like the coffee desks and the colorful proverbs on the wall. In this typical western classroom, I felt happy and relaxed. There were really a lot of surprises: Pro. Martin’s big family, the “Speak-English” red cap, the “follow-instructions” registration, the “dead” call for the final examination, but what surprised me most was that we were encouraged to speak Chinglish! It’s totally a new concept and sounds very interesting. What will happen?
My oral English is always poor, though I have had many English courses for several years. Sometimes I think over the reasons why I can not do well in oral English but to no avail, until I experienced the first lesson by Professor Martin. It is Professor Martin that taught us to speak more when learning a language, only if doing that can we master a language well. On The first lesson, Professor Martin showed us his humor and sagaciousness, he gave us a clear objective-let’s speak English no matter where you are and what you do. He is a rigorous but also amiable man, I believe that my English will be greatly improved by the teaching of Professor Martin.
What the Holistic English was?Was it the same to our oral English courses I had learnt before?I was confused by this thought until I entered the Holistic English Lab. when I was at first sight It was a very beautiful room with wonderful desks, comfortable chairs and red caps and so on.In the room, all the things around us has a name of English.I would seem to be into an English world. After I had heared Mr Wolff’s introduction,I changed my mind.Yes!It was a new oral English course. It was different to any of oral English courses. I’m very glad that I could learn English in this class and have a good teather.I will be working harder and harder to improve my oral English.
It really shocked me to see the banner written with “chinglish spoken here”. It might be just a trick, because it is totally opposed to my understanding. When I came into the classroom, a teacher with a full white beard was saying something loudly and clearly, it suggests, to some extent, that he knows how to help us learn English or acquire English. Then, in his speech, I find he is humorous and friendly teacher. In the first class, he emphasize two points—we need to learn or acquire English rather than study, which I consider a new perspective; the other one is following instructions, which makes me impressed. That is my experience; I met a responsible, enthusiastic, and kind of humorous teacher—professor Martin.
The first class of my oral english is a really different one. I was shock when i heard that students who have not got a workbook is not permitted entered classroom. Fortunately, i got one and entered. The second shock came when i approached classroom, it is a absolutely different classroom from which we have seen previously, so we double checked the room number, and make sure it is just the right room! The third shock is that we have a so strict teacher that some of our classmates are ordered out, and they can not return until get prepared. So many shocks a class! It is a really different class!
It was my first time to learn English with a teacher from an English speaking country. Embarrassedly,I didn’t know what’s the meaning of HOLISTIC ENGLISH LAB on the door, and I entered the classroom in tensity. And then I was shocked by the professor’ introduction. Besides, the chairs, the desks, the red hats and banners are different from our traditional classrooms. Maybe they could explain what was HOLISTIC ENGLISH LAB. Though I am poor in English, I like this new way.I also hope I can make a great improvement in my oral English.
In fact, it’s my first time to have an oral English class with a foreign teacher. Although I have learned English for about ten years, I know my English level is poor. The classroom is so different, and Professor Martin is also a man of character. Everything is amazing. Mr. Wolff’s western style impressed me favorably. “Out”, he cried to those people who didn’t bring book or is late. And he never allows us to speak Chinese in the classroom. At the first, maybe it’s a little hard for us to obey his demand, but I think the entire English environment is good for our improvement.
“You come to my class unprepared? This is a university, not a kindergarten, get out!” “Oh, it would be a tough day today!” –by Martin Wolff.
There’s no doubt that Martin’s attitude shocked all of us during the first day of our oral English class. Oh, my god! He is so strict! That’s my feeling. Then I found that his English is so good and I really like his accent. Yes, he is strict or even harsh. Nevertheless, he is just the right one for us. He is humorous, passionate and responsible. So I will just follow him, enjoy the class and make progress!
ODD
That morning ,I was almost late. When I just seated myself,Martin was in.He began to check that if everyone had a book, some unprepared guys were asked to “OUT”,I was really shocked. His serious attitude made him the odd one out in these who ever taught me.It is not the end,the “odd” things continued: Everyone had a red hat as a gift from him.The password “supercalifragilisticexpialadocious” should be written and recognized.Oh my god! What a long word!
But Martin is a really humorous old guy,and his idea is full of novel things to me.In any case,I look forward the next lecture.
It is a new experience for me to take oral English with a foreign teacher face to face. That day, when I come in the classroom, it’s difference from any room that I have study. The room looks like a café shop or a tea shop. Every table put six hats and paper, and many English sentences hanging on the wall. First of all, I see the motto: One World, One Dream.
I’m so tense, because I don’t know how to say. Is that teacher strict or lovely? It’s strict. Some minutes later we know. The different country, different cultures, different personalities of people raise. So, it’s a good chance for me to learn oral English, maybe some good-quality, such as responsibility, accountability, promptness and so on. This is a good beginning.
The moment when I came to the classroom, I was really shocked by the scene I have looked at the first sight. The classroom is not like the formal classroom which usually has rows of chairs and desks, conversely, it is full of slogans and big tables just as an opened laboratary.
Our professor Martin called himself a strict and harsh man, which is out of our expectation. The reason is that Martin looks like a kind and mild man, and this view is broken when Mr Martin introduced himself. We feel our teaher is a cool man and full of fancy ideas which can be demonstrated from the shining red caps.
As a whole, Martin told us to use ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ instead of ‘very good’, I believe my oral English will be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as well.
The oral English class was impressed me deeply on September 15th.Firstly, because many of my classmates had no books , the class on the morning was canceled. Then we had the class in the evening. Secondly, the manner of the class was attracted me. when I approached my 4th floor oral English classroom , I had no idea with the words “Chingland” and “Chinglish Spoken Here” on a red banner. Then I shocked with the red hats on every desk and the words on the wall. Thirdly I had no foreign teachers before, I was a little nervous when I spoke with my oral English teacher Martin Wolff,J.D..During the class, Martin was humorous and energetic, he said many stories about his students and his family which made me know much about life. Above all, I know that this Semester will be a challenge, and I have the confidence to improve my oral English better.
I have ever heard about Martin is a very stern professor from my senior classmate, so I arrived early before the first class. Well, just like the article , I check the assigned classroom number several times. Because I’m shocked by these red caps, banners, wallpapers, the permutation of the tables and chairs, and Martin’s words. Pro. Martine is my first foreign teacher. Even if he is severe, but I can see his humor and has a strong sense of responsibility to help us. The first oral class makes me have confidence to improve my poor oral and listen capacity. Thank you Martin and your class, I’ll come on!
I have never experienced such an Engish course before. Professor Martin showed his strictness when we stepped into the room: no yellow book no entrance! It is just my first shock. When we all settled down, professor gave me the second shock: an amazing word with 34 letters! We are going to keep it in mind because it is our password. I saw another aspect of my new teacher: funny. The third shock is that we are required to answer the phone with “hello” and Martin will call us to check. My prior English teachers never call me! I feel lucky that Professor Martin is so responsible. I hope I can learn more from this course not just in oral English.
As a chinese stuent, especially for the one who seldom communicate with foreigners , can only receive the impression of foreigners from movies and fictions. To me , compared to strict ,I would rather believe that all the foreigners ,especially the American, are easy-going, full of individuality, easy to make friends with, but rarely can connect with strict.
However , in my first class as a graduate student, the professor martin change the
impression I always keep. I was shocked consumingly. Just as what he says , people who consider the foreign teacher has a guitar and only knows how to teach English songs are wrong. They are not the uncle Mcdonalds , they can also be strict and serious ,the very thing we need if you engaged with academic activity.
In professor martin’s class, firstly ,I feel very nervous, uncomfortable, so much as some terrible. Howerver , 10 minutes later , I begin to became calm, comfortable, and then some excited. Mr martin is a born orator, his speech is humorous , infective, and emotive. His dramatic word picture, pure pronunciation let me know that language can also be an art. I gradually be convinced of that although there are many differences between western culture and chinese culture, they has the same belief in seek truth.
Thanks for your work , professor martin , happy every day!
When I got into the classroom, saw the teacher and I thought “Teacher is not a pretty woman or a handsome guy. This clas does not interest me.” But when the class begin, I found myself wrong. Pro.Martin is not an ordinary teacher. He is a “strict or even rush but very fair” person, and a so funny guy. The first English class really impressed me and I have learned so much from Professor Martin. Althought it is the first oral class in this semester, Professor Martin showed us exactly western work style in details. I cannot wait for the next class now. This semester a total of only nine or ten lessons, and I promise myself, I will value of each lesson.
What an impressive English class!
It is the first time that I attend a foreign teacher’s class .Everything is different from the English classess which I attended before. When I entered the clasroom,I was deeply impressed by the layout of the classroom and the mottos on the wall . What impressed me most is Pro Martin, who is very strict and humorous. He gave us an red hat on which printed “Speak English” to remind us speaking English as much as possible .
In a word ,the first class is both nervous and interesting. It is a good chance for me to improve my English .I am looking forward to the next class.
The first day of my experience during the oral english class was so dramatic that I would never forget it.Mr. Martin was my first foreign teacher and also the first foreigner I have ever talked to face to face. This was my first experience there is no Chinese class,so I could not catch up with the teacher.Although Pro.Martin was serious, but his class was very interesting and lively.I like this classroom atmosphere. Also,I think this teaching method can well improve our English proficiency, which including observation, listening, reading, writing, debate, and conversation.I will be quick to adapt to this environment, and strive to improve my English.
Panic but Marvelous. These might be the impression on my first day experience of the English oral class this semester. Undoubtedly, Professor Wolff was the strictest foreign teacher ever seen. “Just so-so” was obviously not be an acceptable standard for this professor. What a panic! However, the surprises in which Martin humor were presented friendly came one after another. We all felt amazing and laughed when we heard the “Supercalifragilisticexpialadocious”, the use of the little “SPEAK ENGLISH” red cap, the “say hello” rule when answering the phone, and other surprising but pleasant things. Marvelous, isn’t it? Or we should use the word “supercalifragilisticexpialadocious”.
It was a interesting class. Professor Martin was a serious teacher, using his strict but funny manner told us how to feel English, and everything he did was just for improving our English level. The first time, I was told English was not learned or studyed, but acquired. The first time, I was told I can make up a story based on a movie. The first class, I understood I must act like a mature, responsible, serious student,or you could say attitude was very important.
It seems like everything is new, yes,I think it is the new start point of my English acquisition and I am desired of it.
“One special room”—I thought when I saw the classroom, HOLISTIC ENGLISH LAB. I had never saw hats in any classroom. I thought that one student should uncover his head to the teacher as a basic manner. But actually it’s foreign to civility. The hat with red colour is a “warning”, suggesting that we should speak English. In the following an hour, we began to know the fatter professor. He is full of humour, but I have to say that he is also of responsibility. Because of so different one class, I think that my oral English will have a change in the future.
I really appreciate the no Chinese circumstance that provided by Prof. Martin. Once get into the Oral English classroom, one should always speak in English. The mottoes put up on the wall are in their English version. Each student should give oneself an English name. Even the slogan on our red hat reads “SPEAK ENGLISH”. We really thought we are at a “small England” that located in China.
Oh, yes. We are now arriving at CHINGLAND!
The oral English class was greatly strange to me till last Friday. For fear of missing a little bit of information,I took my whole heart to listen to every word what my teacher said, but I still missed.Through this lesson,I deeply recognized that how bad my English was and how hard the way I will go to improve it.In my opinion, there is no shortcut but completing each task of the teacher arranged in earnest can make significant progress.I will try!
En, it’s such a big shock for the first oral English class. “You come to my class unprepared, get out”, “I have nothing to teach a ‘GOD’”, “Sorry, I don’t allow my class having a ‘DOG’” etc. To tell the truth, I was nervous at the beginning. What will the beard man do to play tricks on us? To call us at 3:00am just for “hello” or to pretend to care about us “How are you?” but for the answering “supercalifragilisticexepialadocious”? But believe or not, we will learn a lot, not only oral English, but also attitudes towards our life, work and something else.
When I came to the oral English classroom,I felt upset very much.Mr.Wolff is a strict teacher. He put a lot of requests to us.The classroom is also different. My seat is too close to the professor. I was very frightened and even did not dare to look at his eyes. Though he spoke English very slowly and the words also very simple,I still only understood part of them.I think if he called me up to answer questions,I may not know how to do it.I have to practice speaking English, from now on.
Holistic English course is more than an English course! Not only can we speak English, but also we can see English, smell English and drink English. Professor Wolff is as “harsh” as it can be. However, it is just because of his stricture that we’ve gained things more than English knowledge merely from the first day class, things that will aid us in our lifetime. Try your best to be as punctual and precise as you can. This is what Professor Wolff taught us in the first class. I have faith in myself that I can gain a lot from this course.
That Monday I had my first oral English lesson, exactly,my first lesson in my post-graduate period.
When I came into the classroom,I was shocked by the learning environment. It was wonderful, just like the sence that I saw in the foreign classroom. And I was honored to meet my teacher Martin. What impressed me most was his severe appearance and his conscientious attitude. We all had a red hat as the gift and were required to write our English on the paper in front of us.In a word, the feeling the first lesson gave me was very exciting and fresh.I would catch this opportunity to improve my English.
On the very first day of my postgraduate semester I was in shock. Accturelly, I was puzzled by the banner with the phrase “WELCOME to CHINGLAND, Chinglish Spoken Here” in front of the oral English classroom, and I thought that might be something different. Then, I entered the room and I thought I met the legendary Santa Claus. Howerer, I found I made quite a mistake later, and the foreign teaher actually was a real professor. He deeply impressed me, and I thought I would remember the professor Martin Wolff all my life. I had never met such a professor and I thought that would become a different and meaningful experience in my postgraduate semester and even in my life. Now, you see , I practise the tongue twister “How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood” every day.
Before I went into the classroom of oral English on Thursday afternoon, I was tired and sleepily. But, it stimulated me as soon as the decoration of the classroom appeared in front of my eyes. Motto boards almost occupied the whole sidewall and the desks on which there each were six red hats with letters “SPEAK ENGLISH” were not placed in right order. Another one that attracted me simultaneously was Professor Martin. He was a fat man with bushy beard for which we almost could not see his mouth and he had a loud and clear voice. Just as he said, he was really a strict professor. You were allowed to be in the classroom unless you had the workbook and were not be late. During the class, do not nap or even inattentive, otherwise you will miss some important information. So, we should be serious every second and I believe that like teacher, like pupil.
When I heard that my spoken English teacher was a foreigner last Monday, I was so excited and nervous, because I would learn English with a foreigner for the first time. However, when I came into the classroom, I found that the amiable teacher was so strict that I was afraid in the beginning. I was aware that I must study hard in order that I would not get an “F” in this course.
However, during the class, I also found that Professor Martin was an interesting, humorous and responsible teacher. He brought us a friendly entertainment atmosphere instead of a rigorous academic education. Gradually, I began to enjoy the course and feel happy in this classroom.
I believe that I can learn more oral communication skills and have a good time with my amiable but strict teacher in this term.
It was an exciting day that I cannot forget it forever.First time I have a so humor foreigner teacther, professor Martin. Our classroom, in which have some tea and coffee on the table,is more than a classroom. Our professor ,Martin, is very strict. He awalys says:” if you speak Chinese, out!”” If you don’t answer my mobilephone with hello, you will get F”.unlike other teachers , martin taught us not only about how to improve our oral English, but how to deal with our work. He is also a gentleman .I was deeply moved When he said hello and shook hands to me gentlely.Anyway,I like my English class and professor Martin. I am looking forwarding to next class.
It is a new experience for me to take oral English with a foreign teacher face to face. The moment when I came to the classroom, I was really shocked by the scene I have looked at the first sight. The room looks like a café shop or a tea shop. Every table put six hats and paper, and many English sentences hanging on the wall. My English teacher is Professor Martin Wolff, who is very humorous and very strict. Pro, Martin told us to use ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ instead of ‘very good’. Please to answer the phone with “hello” except “ wei, nihao”. I consider that this Semester will be a challenge but also be a chance , so I will try my best to improve my oral English .
It’s really a cultuer shock! As prof.Woff said that most of us had never had such an experience in our prior 16 years.
I was shocked when I came in the classroom. There are seven tables in room and every table has six seats with a red hat beloing to each seat. Subsequently, we know that this especial red hat is a symbol that denotes we are prof. Woff’s students.
My dear prof. Woff is a kindly man, he told many interesting stories made we laugh. But he is also a strict man. When he saw someone hadn’t took the oral book he shuted:”out!”
What a exciting class it was! Our dear prof.Woff said that as long as we follow his arrangement our English will be better and better! I believe!
As I had not been my 4th floor oral English classroom,I thought that it maybe the best and the last chance for me to improve my oral English. Because I would hardly have a foreign teacher to teacher me for a long time in the futher, also for I had never experience before. When I approached the classroom ,I saw my lovely teacher whose name is Martin. As the first sight ,I had a sensation that if my teacher wear Santa’s clothes,he would be Santa Claus. I figured that he would kindly as Santa Claus which was proved wrong later. He is a very stick teacher that we have to obey many rules and regulation in his class. At that point,I realy felt sorry for myself .
As time goes by,I found Martin was humorous and he was making his best to teacher us not only oral English but also how to be a better man . At the same time I confirmed my guess before that my teacher was a lovely man beause I found all the time,he was gently stroking his luxuriant beard.
When he said the class was over , I began to look forward to the next course.
I had not been touch with English for nearly about half a year until 15th september. I was so excited, because I thought I could recognize many other new friends who did not like English but have to learn it, except which I felt much boring about English course. On the right day, all of our roommates get up early, but didn’t get the permission to go into the peculiar holistic English classroom,as the result of not bringing the proper workbook.
“so crazy!!!,Martin” ,the first impression of our English forgein teacher.
So we must leave and go to buy the right stupid book, though we did not like to do. After about an hour, we get the book and were preparing to go to have the class. To our surprise, the teacher wanted to have the class in the evening. Depressed filled me, at that time all all I wanted to do was to escape and never come back . hoho, certainly I could not do like that.
If somebody let me use some words to expression the class in the evening, “not boring, not punctilious, too much demand, may become interesting” is proper.
I really like the English name “Matins”, but dear Martin did not like it, so I changed it into “Joey” .As we kown, there is a famous football player who run quikly named Matins.
Certainly, besides,it happened a lot of interesting things about first holistic English day in postgraduate. For example, we began to say”hello” when we get a strange call…
However, I must stop. Bless my following days in holistic!!!
The first day I entered on the 4th floor and saw people of different colors. That moment I realized I should forget Chinese and practice my English. When I stood at the door and looked around,I found the chairs was laid out in circles rather than in lines. It provided a more relaxing atmosphere to speak English just like chating with friends. Then I met my teacher a strict and humorous man..He gave me the hope that everyone could speak English well by hardwork even he was the worst one. I look forward to the next lesson:which surprise he will bring to us and which progress I will make.
2009-09-14, it is a special time I should remembered all my life. This is my first oral-English class by a foreigner teacher. The first thing that impressed me is that the professor is so strict, as I come into the classroom the professor asked me whether I took my textbook? Luckily, I bought one that midday; unfortunately, three girls didn’t and they was asked out.
But slowly we found that actually he is also a kindly and interesting older. In the class, he told many things about his life and his family , and then there have laughter, and the atmosphere was more relaxed. We found we can become friends now.
Finally, I hope we can improve our oral-English all together!
This is my first time taught by a foreign teacher in the English class. I am very excited but also very nervous. The teacher’s teaching method is very novel, at the same time the teacher is very strict in the class. But because of my poor English, I can not keep up the rhythm of the teacher exactly in a lot of time. Therefore I will work harder to improve my English language skills.
“Amazing!”-That’s the first word that came out of my mind when i got into the classroom !Looking around ,i found so many english mottoes put up on the wall and a red hat palced on the table boldly! Last Thursday, I had the first oral English lesson which impressed me deeply. When I came into the classroom, the arrangement of the classroom made me very surprised, and our professor looked very strict. Firstly, he made some rules for us and told us funny something. My English has been very weak, so I could not fully understand what he said. However, I still felt his humor and kindness. His smile and body language are very hard to forget. The oral English lesson is very interesting and useful for me, so I will positively have the lesson to improve my English.
When I walked into the classroom I was shocked by the special disposal. It is so different. After the class beginning﹐the first expression of this class is that this teacher is so funny. And this class has a large different from our accustomed classes. It’s more freedom and has more chance to express your ideas. But during the whole class I find it is difficult for me to understand well. I am not sure what the teacher’s said. But it is so interesting to finish the teacher’s assignments. It is also so hard to accomplish these assignments well. If I attach importance to finish these assignments, I think I can improve my capability of using English.
This Tuesday morning, when I approached the English classroom with a little nervous, Professor Wolff walked out the classroom at the same time. Then he asked me loudly and may be a little bit angry if I was his student and I said yes with little confusion. When I came in the classroom, I was shocked with the red caps on the desks. In the beginning of the class, the behavior of Professor made the atmosphere of class tense, but he relaxed our tense with his humor in a moment.
I consider that Professor is a man of strong personality and principle. Indeed, he is very strict, but he also fair as he emphasized in the first class. If the students did follow his instructions, they will pass; otherwise they will get an “F”. Although Professor Wolff is a harsh teacher, he does make his effort to help his students to achieve English acquisition.
