Our country is changing all the time. What we mainly notice is the changes that has taken place since 1978. However, I think the changes can be classify as two types. Compared to the feudal society, our country has changed a lot in culture,economy and many other aspects,that’s called changing ourself; On the other side, we also learn from western countries, we adopt the market economy and fashion elements. The historical developing process of different countries is different, that means every country has their nature thing which is different from others and hard to be changed.
Go along with the world,China is changing all the time.From the ancient time,China already has been an open country.Every government in different times sent officials abroad to learn from the developed countries.Now in our new country, this custom is being carried forword.Even though we changed too much in our clothing style and gained great developments in technology ,we still reserve our valueble culture.We chinese are also honest , friendly,brave and so on.
Chinese traditional culture can be thought as the backstage
culture ,which has been changing all the time though the speed of change is very slow. As the form of culture is very slow,and the influence of it is powerful.So backstage culture is more stable than frontstage culture and difficult
to change quickly.
China has so many wonderful and unique traditional cultures known by the world,as one of the biggest countries,there are so many people,so many nations and so many traditions,so that it must have a big difference from other nations.what’s more,with the time going on,maybe many things have changed a lot,but our country’s nature is aways the same with before,such as china WUSHU or TAIJI,they always represent and develop our nation’s great character,to some extent,we can say that Mark is so lucky that he got the teacher like Mr pan who was so responsible to him and spared no pains to teach him with his unique teaching style so that he can make a lot of progress.
Even though it has been more than twenty years since Mark taught English in china, which is the beginning of the TEFL in china, while TEFL education in china is moving slowly, especially for the kids in the poor district in China. For the east China, most students are not receiving proper TEFL education because many foreign teachers are hired just for chatting with the students and many students are still have no idea about what should a foreign teacher’s class be like. For the west China, the schools are too poor to hire foreign teachers, let alone the development of TEFL. Mr. Mark’s story teaches us that China’s TEFL need some foreign teachers who are sincerely love China and Chinese culture and someone who are willing to dedicate himself in china’s TEFL.
In these years china has changed a lot,The policy of china changed ,The life of chinese people changed,The most important thing is that the mind of people has changed greatly over the last decades.I remembered when I was a pupil I didn’t know anything except where I lived,but now in the same age as me my little consins know what is computer ,how to use it and play QQ chating with theirs classmates,are better to deal with their superfluous money.They often go shopping themselvies with adults,can speak the words that astonished us.
In my opinion,Iron and Silk is very interesting movie,I like it. I was also interested in kungfu when I was a young boy. Martial art is my earliest dream ,just like Mark, in my memory. I used to try to learn it and made great progress in field. But I don’t know that I lose it. See this movie, I remember it. Maybe everything is changing,for example our dream, freinds ,ourselves and so on.
China is a growing cuntry,it has changed a lot sine 1949,in the old days,people were so conservitive that they couldn`t express their real opinions in public,publishing was not permitted either.However,today we have the right to public the different thoughts through internet or newspapers.
There are many screens showing the beautiful scenery of Hangzhou in this movie, such as Broken Bridge and Su Di.The West Lake at that time is as beautiful as a painting,the same enchanting as the West Lake is now.
China has a long histroy ,chinese culture is very profoud.We should have a responsibility to promote chinese culture.Today we need merge western culturein in order to develop china.
China have changed so much that a lot of foreigners consider it as new china which is so different from before.But many things isn’t change such as many good virtues in chinese people,they are so kind,hospitable,and warm.So everything will change but our excellent culture!
In this movie I like Pan most,and I think he is very funny and his teaching method is very special,his attitude for teaching is very seriously and it is very worth admire for us.O(∩_∩)O~

I like teacher Pan most in this movie. He is the real master,he teach mark seveval minites every day,but result is good.Also he is humorous,seriously,and good for his students.He is very attractive,like traditional Chinese master.
Since the open-up in 1980s,China changed a lot,like the life style,living condition,what remain almost unchanged is the thinking,the mind in our brain,like the culture,take much more time to changed.
This is a movie that is easy to understant. Teacher Mark is a funny and special foreigner. He taught Chinese students friendly and made them with friends. He likes Chinese cultures especially kung-fu.When he was in his own country, he learned it a little. After he came to China, he learned it every hard and eat so much bitter. Fortunately,he had a good teacher and performed kung-fu perfect at last.
Teacher Mark was a lovely man. As a teacher, he was very friendly to the students and other Chinese people. He cared more about the Chinese life styles.
China has changed a lot. Decades ago, we used bike as the main vehicle, but now we have cars, buses. The traffic becomes very crowded. As the same time, the clothing style is changed a lot. Chinese people previously wear simple, plain cloth whose color is black, blue or green.
This movie is very interesting.Teacher mark is a very humorous and funny man. In the movie he did a lot of funny things. When i watched it,i smiled many times. Compared with other movies, it is very easy knowing .It’s very good!
Since the reform and opening policy,especially after entering WTO,Chinese become more and more open,and our thinking has changed.So millions of foreigners come to China each year,they began to work in China,study in China,travel in China,and even migrate to China.Transnational marriages are fairly common in China.On the other hand,the Chinese culture and China-style,such as Kung-FU,Wushu,traditional Chinese medicine,and so on,are widespread worldwide.
Without any exaggeration,I see the change,particularly the change in rural areas.Some change things had made a great impact on every aspect of my life,such as clothes,food.But much of the culture and traditions of China are unchanged.
I think we should learn from teacher mark,he is hard-working and he insist on the things he believe in,he is also very humous,i think if i comunicate with him,i will feel very happy,i like him.
This is an interesting movie. We can see another different China through the eyes of Mark a foreigner. The Chinese traditional culture is attractive for the foreigner and we are proud this too.
In the movie,i know Mark is always interested in Wuschu of china,and he works very hard.And i leart that one shouldn’t always do what he has to do,sometimes,he can do what he wants to do.
Different nations have different cultures during the long developing history. Various cultural factors resulted in different language forms. According to observation, analysis, and study, the discrepancies between the Chinese and Western culture include culture of allusions, of numbers, of colors, etc.. It is an important issue to understand and handle the relationship between culture and language while communicate with the foreigner. Meanwhile, language is not only the culture’s important content but also the carrier of culture.
In this movie,we can see the distance of the old China and now.This is economy power,changed the world in the eyes of Chinese people.
The movie told us our people in that period how to treat foreigners. Even though people’s thought were confined by political atmosphere such as “a campaign against spiritual pollution” in the movie. But they were still friendly and genuine, just as teacher Pan, I admired him who was proficient in Wuschu and cautious about Wuschu . What’s more, the movie was very funny and I felt relaxed when the movie was end.
In my opinion, Mark is very careful and very strict.He love his own career deeply like our professor.
Mark and Dr.Ming’s love is miserable.They loved each other ,but can not be together.This kind of situation is very common in real life.

Yes,I agree with professor,since the open-up in 1980s,China seems has changed a lot.We becomes rich,even The USA borrows money from us.This changes are all Front Stage.But we still have a long way to go at the development of democracy and legal system.
At first,I have little interested in the movie. Then as the movie plays, I find that I gradually like Mark. I respect him. Because he does his best to look for opportunities to fully engage with Chinese society and can learn some new things sincerely and persistently, like learning Chinese ceremony, handwriting, wushu and so on.
On the other hand, It really interested me because it shows a lot of insight into Chinese culture and what China was like in the 1980′s. We can see that China has had such an incredible change over the past 20 years. I am proud of China’s achievements.
The movie called iron and silk is a symbolic of China’s and America’s culture. If you know the Chinese Kung-Fu, you can see the stronger and weakness point. None of the countries’ culture is a obtractive theory for another country.So we should exchange our own good culture to others, and bring back the best conception and thought about of the big united world.
After watching the movie,I think I get the way to learn a foreign language.
Different countries have different culture.If we want to know something about a country, culture should be the first choice.
There are so many differences between China and the USA,the culture,education and so on.
Through the movie we can see the other face of China which is in the foreigners’eyes,such as Mark.He is interested in Kung-fu,and try his best to learn it and communicate with Chinese.
I like him, if you interest in sth you should try you best to do it!
I think this is a movie which reflects the cultural differences between China and western countries.we can see some traditional things in this film,such as Kung fu,Wu shu.Somethings can be understood and accepted in the present context,while at that time it is not allowed,take teacher Mark and Ming for example,they love each other,however, the fact is that they cannot be together.There are also some interesting things in this
movie,among them is such a scene,when teacher Mark is listening the radio,the cleaner turns it off heavily,and ask “how much is the radio?”,teacher Mark says “about 100 dollar”,and the cleaner says “too much”,I think it is funny.
From the moive I know something about china of several decades ago.china was seclusion before.Since carring out reform and opening-up policy,China has changed a lot.China accepted foreign culture,bringed advantaged foreign technology,tried her best to catch up with the international pace,to keep up with the western countries.But there indeed are many difference betwween china and western countries.Chinese traditional culture is rooted,which produce great effect to chinese.At the same time these triditional culture attracted so many foreigners,just like teacher Mark.He came to china because of loving chinese martial arts,then he fell in love with a elegant chinese women.that the pity was they broken up because of cultural difference.
Through this movie, we can see many things which is different from the angle we see, shaking me deeply.
Iron and Silk tell us the differences between China and the U.S. I think the film gained the voices of foreigners.
I think the teacher Hei was a image of typical Chinese mother, though she sometimes was very strict on Mark. When he was in trouble, she has been right there beside him to enlighten him as to his own children, without nationality points.
In the movie,I like teacher Mark very much.Because he had enough passion to do something he liked.He was very persistent and confident about learning Wushu.As a postgraduate,I should learn from teacher Mark.In the experimental study,I should work hard and persist it.Never give up my goal.

Things change every second,but the principle of how things work will never change.But our country is too conservativein someway ,we need to open our mind .So I think if our country can take the step of deeply reformation a little quickly，things will be better.

The Confucian culture has a long history in China,this had a huge impact on China.To some extent Chinese become conservative.So China changed quickly in economy and society but slowly in traditional culture,Chinese traditional culture strengthened national cohesion.I think this slowness is a good thing for China.

Through opening to west countries, China makes use of the developed countries’ capital and promotes the economy. So China’s economy has been growing rapidly. But in many places of China is still very poor, especially in the west area of China.

The movie brings us back to the early time of reform and opening up,the time which ideology and politics sill occupy people’s mind.So there are inevitable conflicts between east and west.And now rich foreigners have received much more welcome than ever.In my opinion,I wish we could make the world remember China more than kungfu Chinese food or nice girls.I wish I could see the day she returns to world elite club,enjoy the respect of people.The movie narrates Chinese memories from a westerner’s eyes deserves us remember.
We can’t always expect everything advances according to our planned trail,because of the special culture and the unique traditions,great changes didn’t happen in the “Back Stage culture” of China.Just as the movie tells,lovers aren’t allowed to live together even walking hand in hand before they get married,”conservative” may be the best word to describe Chinese in the old times.
