It is with deep admiration and respect for Deng Xiaoping that we attempt to build upon his philosophy and vision for modernization of China’s educational system.
We are mindful of the wisdom of Deng Xiaoping when he said:
“It’s not that we have too many debates and discussions among persons of different opinions, but too few. Erroneous views may crop up during discussions, but that is nothing to be afraid of. We must adhere to the policy of ‘letting a hundred schools of thought contend’, and promote debate. Different schools of thought should respect and complement each other. Academic exchanges should be promoted. No success in research can be the result of the efforts of a single individual: it always rests on the achievements of past generations as well as our own. Any new scientific theory is a summation of practical experience. How can a new theory be evolved if it is not based on a summation of the practical experience of both past and present generations of scientists, both Chinese and foreign?”

I am totally agree with his philosophy ,I admire him for he guides china to a right road .without him ,most of our chinese are poverty-striken.witout his philosophy of seeking truth from fact,we are still close our coutry’s door .his view about discuss I can understand it as :pursuing the same and remaining the difference.
I agree with his opinion,He is a great man in China.His thought has influenced China and world.So I respect him.Another thing I want to say.A person’s success, The inportant thing is to see the period of time.Time makes heroes.In that time,China need a person like him.Thank you !
As everybody known DengXiao Ping is a great man in China.We all respect him and love him.He led Chinese people out of the darkness and developed a series of economic development policy in China.Facts have proved that his theory is correct.I certainly agree with his point of view on science and education.A new theory must be based on a summation of the practical experience of both past and present generations of scientists.I think this will indicate the direction of my later study.
DENG Xiaoping is one of the most successful and deeply respected leaders in the history of China. I think this is because of his famous and right thoughts, for example, as is shown above, he said that “It’s not that we have too many debates and discussions among persons of different opinions, but too few.”
Yes, the society has become a earth village nowadays, and we cant think and do things all by ourselves, we should understand how to interact with others well and effectively. And consequently, debates and discussions should be increased among persons of different opinions. Because only in this way can we be more creative and make things perfectly.
what i want to say to DENG xiaoping is his birth-control policies puted forward in 1983.
you know why china today fell behind so many developed countrys no matter in GDP, environmental protection or something else. that is because chinese large population.
so the birth-control policies is vividly portrayed!

DENG XIAOPING ,who is the most great man in China for his idea of Open Revolution.His political life is full of frustrations.In Cluture Revolution,he was sent in the mountainous area for practice.After the Cluture Revolution was over,and Jiang Qing was beated.Deng became the leader of the army and the spirit of the China.He first brought up the idea of OPen Revolution,and one country two systems.Generally Speaking,without Deng Xiaoping,China can not develop so quickly.
There is no doubt that Deng Xiaoping is the greatest man that I ever known in my whole life. As one leader of the Communist Party of China,Deng became a reformer who led China towards a market economy and opening her door to the word.Here,I’d like to talk about one of his famous quotations”It does not matter whether the cat is black or white,as long as it catches the mouse,it is a good cat”.This philosophy helped him solve the biggest problem which was China should turn to capitalism or remain communism in the Chinese society at that time.Meawhile,because of this philosophy, he said that we need debates and discussions. Yes,it’s quite right! We need different from different people. Didn’t you think so?Only in this way, we can learn from each other and create great ideas.Only in this way, our country will go forward continuously. So Deng Xiaoping is deeply admired and respected by pepole from all over the world, not only in China.
It is no doubt that Deng Xiaoping is the greatest man in recent 30 years in China. His policy of ‘Reform and Opening’ leads us to prosperity. Although his work has a lot to be done, our live goes on better and better.
The word he said which is put upper in this page can be concluded in two points. Open-minded and Practice is the only standard to test theory. I absolutely agree with his philosophy. People always refuse to accept others when they are different. By that, how can we get improve? On the other hand, people used to take someone’s word as truth. They just obey the word and refuse to change. Even refuse to accept any evidence proving that’s wrong.
Our country exists for over five thousand years. And dynasty had changed several times. Every change was caused by the change in people’s mind. We have the courage to prove that something goes wrong by our practice. Don’t worry about that.
No matter in China or aboard, it is hard to take changes. But we have to change something in the right time.

I agree with him.Deng xiaoping is a great man not only in China,but in the world.The policy of reform and opening to the outside world that he proposed has changed China, or even the world. During his life , he had been suppressed for three times, but he didn’t lose hope and didn’t complain, and he devoted his life to our country. His many classic sayings are still influencing us today, like “a cat is a good cat as long as it can catch mice,no matter its skin is white or black.”Don’t you think it means something in human discrimination nowadays? One word,China couldn’t develop so fast without his effort.
I am agree with his philosophy. We can view the same things from different aspects, so it is normal that different opinions can exit for one thing. When a different view comes, the first thing we do is not to deny it but understand and learn from it. The policy of “Letting a hundred schools of thought contend” should be adhered that we can learn from each other and promote ourselves, especially in nowadays, as competition is more and more intense, we should cooperate with each other and get promoted by both ourselves and others even your rivals. From this aspect, difference is another meaning of improment. In science research, this is more apparently, we should learn the newest technology and ideas to keep us in the front of others, and any research is based on the former scientist. Therefore, “a hundred schools” is essential for this and the view is illuminating.

In china we call it Deng Xiaoping theory which is the words spoke by Deng Xiaoping or book written by Deng Xiaoping. It is important to us, which guide our forward. It is no doubt that Deng Xiaoping is a great leader. He makes us have more and more money, the condition of people’s life is better and better. An it is our firm conviction in socialism. Now his theory is also the guiding ideology of our country. It will guide us to become more and more powerful!
I’m totally agree with his opinion.Deng xiaoping is one of the greatest leaders in china.If there is no Deng xiaoping,there is no fast developing economy and no advanced thought in china.He is a great creater;because of him,chinese “door” is open for every country in the world,and people of the world is knowing china and chinese more and more.When I look around in the north door of Sun Yat-sen university,I can see the beautiful landscape and the flourishing city called guangzhou;maybe someone ask:why the develop of guanzhou is so fast,we can tell him that because Deng xiaoping put forward the opening and reforming policy.
I agree with him. Good idea always comes from strong debate. I know a phrase in English is brain storm, do you know the translation in Chinese? It’s translated as a discussion between many people. For my understanding, you need to call a really strong debate and some really nice ideas which be created in the discussion, Brain Storm. Imagine, in the world, we have, let’s say, 100 different thoughts about one thing (usually why we live) and every thought can openly discuss the deep thing in that thought with the other thoughts, we might be have 1000 different thoughts on that thing. Isn’t it wonderful? For this we can understand the thing (like I mentioned just now, life deal), more deeply, more widely. What a wonderful world.
According to my personal experiences, I agree with the point on science and education that indicated by Mr. Deng Xiaoping, who is considered to be a great politician and economist in the scope of contemporary Chinese history. From the angle of philosophy, everything has two contradictory sides which will make it improving. For instance, the system of western countries is a very good example. That is, the two political party take turns to manage the state by presidential election. This kind of governance is much advanced than dictatorship. Just like Mr. De said:” Different parts of thought complement each other.”
I agree with Deng who is one of my most respectful men. Different opinions are necessary for our world is developing more and more diversified. It had to accept the true that more and more opposing views are appeared everyday and everywhere.
Now so many common Chinese think that there only one view is right, such as: money is the only way to judge people are successful or not; the diploma is the only way to prove one’s excellence… Luckily, more and more people begin to realize the problem.
However, some people go to the other extreme. They think to protect the right of speaking is the most important thing even the arguing turns to brawl.
Where is the equilibrium point? I don’t know now.
Deng Xiaoping is the greatest Politian in China in the last thirty years. It is he who make China develop in a dramatically fast speed.
I agree with the opinion of Deng Xiaoping. No one in this world is a perfect one who can do everything right. Only when you exchange your ideas with others can you make your idea better. For example, in my own research field biology, it is a trend that we should have cooperation and that the interdisciplinary subjects are more and more willing to be accepted, which reflect the view from Deng Xiaoping. If somebody else challenges your idea, it is, in my opinion, not a bad thing, which does not mean that the guy is embarrassing you. In contrast, I think he/she is interested in what you presented. If you can face this kind of challenges in a correct and calm way, you will be more matured and your progress will be greater.
Undoubtedly,Deng is a man full of wisdom,and I am totally agree with his philosophy mentioned above. In his philosophy he called for letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend. It’s proved that the philosophy is true. Date back to the reform and openness in China, different schools of thought make China develop,esp. in academe.
However,in China,the phenomenon of debates and discussions among different people or different schools isn’t enough. Let’s look at the western schools–Round table,free talking,etc. All of these provide an environment to promote debate, and in fact westerners develop creative thinkings. We have to admit that the west countries do better than us.
Deng is a great man in Chinese history, and most of us honor his philosophy. We’d better follow his step and do better than now.
Actually, I would not like to talk about such a man, because in my mind I think him as my grandpa. In Chinese tradition, a son should not talk about his father with his friends. But if you want me to tell you my felling about him, I have no enough excuse to refuse you. Either. In my opinion, no one in our society has never made mistake. The point is whether he makes contribute to our society. So I want to say, Deng Xiaoping, he is nearly a great man. If there was no such a man in the history of China, I don’t think I can be a student and study here.
DENG Xiaoping is a great man! In my opinion, his political suggestion and philosophical idea is very suit to modern China. He is first one to open China’s door to the world and he is the first one who accent that developing economy is China’s most important thing. He is the guide of China’s reform and opening up. However, in 1989, many students against him, they held a pageant and sit-down, they figure DENG leading the government depravity. But I think that was the pains off transition. China want to develop, we must face the problem coming form market economy. We are delight to see the student understand DENG in finally. I was always admired this bright and great person,Deng Xiaoping,my old folk.I agree with what he said about academic exchanges, the chinese old thinking “letting a hundred schools of thought contend” ever promoted the development of thoughts and cultures in old China,and I thought it was truth forever.The knowledge and horizon of a single individual or a group was limited, through debate,one could find a new idea and complement each other,or one may disagree the others’ thinking,but the course of debate could inspire his own thinking.At last,I thought overcoming differences and seeking common ground was also an gentle behavior.Briefly speaking,debate could produce intelligence.

I totally agree with what Deng Xiaoping said. A new theory always comes from the crash of different ideas. And standing on the predecessors’ shoulder we can see more far. Here at China Holistic English we are being true to Deng Xiaoping’s philosophy. The professor has offered us a platform to share our opinions. We can say whatever we want to say, without worrying about whether our English is chin-english or not. And we also can see the opinions of our contemporary.

I adore the great leader Deng Xiaoping and I agree with his opinion absolutely. We must adhere to the policy of ‘letting a hundred schools of thought contend’, and promote debate. Our academics will not make so great progress without the debates. We can move forward because we stand on our predecessors’ accumulated knowledge. We will have even greater progress with more different views and more refute. Human society goes forward accompany with contradictions. Society cannot be separated with the contradictions and the culture cannot be separated with the contradictions either. Things are always accompanied with contradictions.

Deng Xiaoping is one of the three greatest men in the 20th century in China, which the others are Sun Yatsun and Mao Zedong. I admire him and his philosophy very much. It doesn’t matter if the cat is black or white as long as it catches the mice. What a penetrating theory! We should use anything useful to develop our country and we must adhere to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Speaking of Deng Xiaoping, I always think that how great would that be if he became the leader of China earlier, like from 1950s. Well, we can’t make assumptions on the histroy any way, but no one can deny that he was the best leader in the histroy of the People’s Republic of China, no one was even a quarter as great as him.
In other leaders’ charge, the people are forced to shutdown the good works and shut up the mouths. No one can talk like a complete free man, even for now. The most sad part is they managed to control many brains of civilians and made them few they don’t allow any words about the government around them that are not saying it’s a good one, even when the words are telling the truth. I believe you have already seen some of those brains.
At first, I must say Deng xiaoping is a very great man in my eyes. And I totally agree with his philosophy about education. If there are kinds of debates, this is a good thing. Deng Xiaoping is a great man in China who was toppled and returned to power three times. That is unimaginable to nearly all men but him. I am deeply touched by what he said in this comment. No great discovery is based on itself, as Isaac Newton once said, If I can see a bit farther than some others, it is because I am standing on the shoulders of giants.
Thus, cooperation seems as necessary as freedom of speech nowaday. We must open our mind and our eyes if we want to get a improvement but standing still. As we all know, DengXiaoping is a great man who has changed our life in the recent 30 years. And in the history of reforming education, he also has done a great job. About 30 years ago, our high education was almost palsied for the Cultural Revolution. In this critical moment, DengXiaoping stood out and said to recover the high education. From then on, our education began to step into a new century.
Although we still have some problem in education such as unreasonable system or mechanism, but we must thank him for the decision. We will resolve all the problem step by step and we all believe it.
I admit that he is a great man..China have changed so much and become better and better.He contributes a lot.Especially the policy of reform and opening to the outside world need to be remembered.With the development of our economic about 30 years,many people are richer and richer. 1977，to a generational Chinese it is a special year for all of their life. Deng Xiao ping open the door to the university which ever have closed for entirely ten years. It changes not only the personality’s destiny, but the future of the whole country is changed. It makes this long history nation on the right way of science and progress. In the entrance examination of collage, some guy has not a younger, may be thirty old. In the past unbelievable ten years, they are delayed. The government just wakes up. And they have the chance to change their destiny by themselves capacity. To those men, Deng is a great political to do this.

Generally speaking, I agree with Deng Xiaoping’s philosophy. He using his own theory led Chinese people out of a Chinese road, in other words, it is the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He proposed emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts. Of course, this thought is to the benefit of modernization of China’s educational system. It can help to build good academic atmosphere, develop the academic freely and form a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend situation.
Deng Xiaoping may be the highest praised political leader in Chinese contemporary history; at least I think so. The main reason is that he liberates the thought of most Chinese people. Some people may think that even what Deng said makes sense, it is not so particular, and I could come up with similar ideas too. But at his time, only Deng succeed, others were still confined in the blindly worship towards Mao Zedong. It is Deng who dare to tell the truths and push them forward.
I cannot agree with Deng’s remarks more. The only way to examine a theory is to carry it out. You have you unique idea of teaching English in China, and you are practicing it. I really appreciate that. Even though some people don’t accept it, I still believe it is a good try and time will tell the result. Wish your special pedagogical method every success in China.
All great truths come from debates and discussions. It is also true in scientific area. What Deng Xiaoping had said about science and education is very impressive and correct. No theory can stand firmly in its area without any questioning and challenging. Sometimes we may not be able to reach a conclusion after debates. But without debates, improvement can never be made. To create a tolerant environment for different opinions is what Deng Xiaoping wanted us to do. Different opinions work only when they are spoken out. I really appreciate what I have learned at Holistic English. I have never talked about my own opinions so often before.
Frankly speaking, I agree with the viewpoint expressed in this article by DENGXIAOPING. Our history of the past 30 years has proved what Deng Xiaoping said is right. If we want to learn from other nations, we need to communicate with each other. Difference makes progress, so we should hold the debates and discussions among persons of different opinions. So do different cultures and nations.
