This film tells us a business acquisitions because of human’s greed. I have some piece of notions in the following. First of all, the situation is more complex, the more we should keep a clear mind, and don’t follow the crowd. What’s more, understanding our advantage, and play to the strengths, for example, Ross Johnson is a good salesman, not a good manager. Last but not the least, we should control greed, and we had better know that greed is a double sword, sometimes the greed can inspire us, but the excessive greed could course fairlure. Anyway, life is similar with the business, we have to think twice.

In this movie, one scene has leaved a deep impress in my mind. The hero want to invent a kind of ciggate which has no smoke. In order to get sucess he spent a lot of money.while the result is surprise to me.The new kind of ciggate tast like shit and smell like fart.

The movie is too difficult for me to understand.Ross Johnson failed to buy the company himself because KKR’s leaders were experiened and stockholders didn’t want him buy the company.

After watching this movie,I almost could not understand what was the movie describing and only know that it was about leverage buyout. After having class, I understood what message the movie wanted to describe. Ross was a very clever man ,but he was so greedy that other managers did not support him in that company. So when the company was unable to make profit,if he did not make some measures to change it ,he will be fined. he wanted to keep his job. So he wanted to change that company to be his own company by leverage buyout. But there were other competitor who wanted to acquire the company. Because there were not other managers who supported him,Ross failed in the lerevage buyout. At last, he was fined.
So I think we should not make enemies for ourselver when we were at the top of positions because life is always ups and downs.

  • If we want to be successful in business, to be concerned about product quality, tangible benefits to consumers in order to constantly correct their own, often self-examination.

Indeed, money that workers earn comes into personal account of complany’s Executive.Sometimes these people want to make the complany to be their own,it indicates human lust.I don’t like this kind of life which is full of excuse, controversy and so on.

From this movie, we know that we should not too greedy and want to get something that not belong you either. We should concern more about conducts’ quality and customers’ need but not try a wrong method to improve the company’s stock price.

  • Helen zstu2

A successful leveraged buyout needs rich experience to judge how to deal with in different situation and what to do next. Although Johnson had good business sense, he did not own ability of management and he used the company which lacked the experience of treating large-scale LBO to help him doing LBO. He was too greed as well, so he failed in the end. If businessmen use LBO correctly and properly, LBO will help them get much profits and the company developing.

After watching the movie of Barbarians at the gate, I can get clearer understanding what call greed. To some degree owning greed can fore people especially the businessman to eager and pursue more money and profits. However the extent of the greed should be limited. A person with excessive greed in his mind is bad for his comprehensive development. It even can lead to the development of extreme. The movie is pressed me deeply and I have learned a lot from this movie.

Greedy drives people grogress, makes greed people smart and work hard. But anyone can’t go too far, everything has its limit, if someone exceed the limit, he may do something wrong, and then loss more. Everybody is selfish, but being too selfish will makes people loss many useful opportunities.

  • Chandle zstu 2

To tell the truth, I didn’t understand this movie what would tell me in the beginning. After class, I think that I learn lots of from the movie. At firstly, I have a more comprehensive to look at the issue. I don’t think that greed is bad or good for someone. Because greed, in all of its forms—greed for life, for money, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. Secondly, integrity is very important for everyone. At last we don’t use people’s power to satisfy ourselves greed.

From this movie, I understand what the leveraged buyout is. But I also realize how the enterprise is valued and management operation is very important and it is the core. Also it is the key to judge whether a leveraged buyout could success. I personally think that this movie’s biggest achievement is that when you have known capital people or company man’s real needs and interests source, perhaps you could more accurate assessment of the value of property and company. At the same time I understand one people’s greed should have a degree. I like a sentence in this movie that it is just a question of how much greed is fair.

This movie makes me to thing about my current life. Maybe I am just like the young boy who work for a bright future. I work hard, but I get less than what I should gain. I want to ask myself what is greedy, much money or high social position. How could I get them? Like Johnson to use finial tools to earn much profit or not. The society is complex, so I can not just what I wanted but also what other people don’t want to loose. Hold on my heart may help myself away from greedy.

  • Henry ZSTU 6

There are several reason accounting for Ross failure, the first reason is other people stab his from the back, the second reason is that his bid plan can’t bring more profit to the employee ,the last one is that is result of greedy and lust and he derseve it.

  • peter_zstu6

IN this movie,Ross loses his job at last. Although he is smart and clever,he got worse with his workers. Greedy is good,.every person would persuit his own profits, that’s Ok.

  • jack zstu 2

From the movie,we know that greedy is a motive power.Believe it or not. However,it is difficult for me to understand this moive.I just learn something from this class.Unbelievable,it is ok.

POST DELETED – PLAGIARISM IS A CRIME

We human sometime are too much greedy, like Ross, which lead him to fail, though after the end of the movie, him still will have a comfortable retire life, sometime what we pursuit it not all about money, but life,a common life.

  • MiYa ZSTU 2

To me ,this movie is the most difficult among all the ones I have seen in the class .I’m bad at business and laws .I can only say that from this movie I learn maybe most companies often don’t play by the rules ,not tell the truth ,and not pay in cash .Every industry has its line and potential rules which easily make people violate the virtues.

  • Sally ZSTU Class6

Ross is very smart. He can get everything he want and he never loose since 9 years old.So he want to win all thing he want and no matter use what method, and this reflact he is very greed,it is greed leading his fail.

  • Jane zstu-2

This is a useful movie to my live, when we are faced with failure, don’t just think about how to make up the failure, but should also try to open up another new road.

  • nancy zstu2

Desire itself is not wrong right. In real life, people need desire. as long as desire, people will continuously strive, meanwhile experience the joy of success and the loneliness of failure. In the business operation, the enterprise has a desire, can gain maximum benefit. But everything needs to maintain a certain limits, people’s desire is no exception. Excessive desire of money is greed, It will cheat our hearts for understanding of happiness.

  • SandraZSTU8

In my opinion, everyone is greedy for money, power and status. But the problem is that how much greed is fair. Mild greed can encourage us to work hard to achieve our goals. However, excessive greed may make you crazy or terrible. Ross was too greedy that he never make friends sincerely. That’s the reason why he was failed in the bidding war.

  • VincyZSTU8

Ross wants to buy the company because he wants to control the company and make more money for himself .But his friend who is the CFO of the company sets him up ,in the end he loses the company.Every person is greedy ,but greed leads to different aspects for each one !

  • Jenifer ZSTU8

Ross purchased the troubled company with plenty of money. But the stockholders in his company didn’t support him.He had many enemyes.Besides,he made the incorrect decision. Therefore he failed at last.

  • Cathy zstu 8

I think business full of fierce competition and many conspiracies. And excessive greed is the root of all evil.

  • jack zstu8

Greed is a man’s basical inner character, which every man wants to get richer and live in a more colorful day. But we must see that not everything what you want to get is not through in how much your put efforts. In fact, there are many law-allowed ways to get what you want, so you can also enjoy your life very comfortable.

  • Wendy ZSTU2

I do not like to do business. The business circles are like the battlefield. Greed is human nature, but the excessive greed is a price to pay.

  • Agatha_zstu6

Maybe we all have greed opinions in our heart, and most of us chose to make more money by work harder or take kinds of measures. It’s good for us to improve ourselves. But we should understand that money isn’t the only thing what can make us feel happy and there are many things are important for us.

  • Alice_zstu8

This is a very good movie about business. The film was full of greed, betray and intrigues.Doing business needs clever mind and excellent ability.I think it is not suitable for me to do business.Business world is so cruel and the ompetition is too fierce.

  • Tomyzstu8

Greed is not always bad.A little greedy make people to work hard.Too much greed will make people lose some good things.

  • Ruby zstu 8

In the movie,I learnt that keep the friend close and keep the enemy closer. But everyone should not be very greedy. If one is always pursuit something that Beyond his limits.he maybe obtain nothing in the end.So we should cherish what we own now.

  • DarrenZSTU2

Like Wall Street, the topic of this movie is also about financal market. From this movie we can see some people like to run industrial corporation, and some people prefer to do financial business.Nearly all of the big companies in the word have a close relationship with the financial institutions. If they could deal well with these situation,it will promote the development of the industial company. otherwise the company may go bankrupt and the employees lose their jobs.

  • Allen Zstu Class2

The movie is hard to understand, I hardly to know nothing after watched one time. But it’s a good movie. Greed is good, maybe, but bind the sack before it be full in Chinese words-halfway path. Extravagant greed must lead to fail.

  • Grace_zstu_8

This film reflects many phenomena of real life.We can see Rose’s shadow in each filed. They are always thinking about himself and doing something in its favor.Rose is a tipical character of this kind of people.Usually some evil ideas will bring bad consuquences. This social rife with competition, sometimes our best friends will become our enemies.

  • Victor zstu 2

Ambition maybe is not a bad thing,it gives us impuse to make a progress, but it every thing has a limitation.Johnson was aggressive, and he want to make a large scale of lever-aged buyout ,but he had no experience of it,the thing he want to do is surpassed his ability ,maybe his failture is sentenced before he do it.And it is a paradox that he invested so much money on the exploitation of the cigarette of no smoking which has no market and even hinself didn’t like it.When we make a challenge we are making a adventure too.So it’s very important for us to be very prudent when you have ambition to do something great.

  • frank zstu8

From this movie,I have learned some useful business lessons.Firstly, greedy is good to do business at times, but our greedy should not excess the limit.Secondly, experience is also important,it can make up for the weakness of theory.

  • Rich zstu2

Business is not a simple matter.A good LBO should have a rich experience and abilities to solve problems.A good idear was used to create a good things. But we must utilize a realitive method,or less we will failed.

  • Bob ZSTU2

This movie is about leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco. The biggest harvest I have received from it is that I know more about how the business of the world works. I haven’t realized that before and I think the knowledge I have learned in the movie will be helpful for my future development.

  • Jim zstu2

In our daily life business cannot neglect,in where a successful businesser should possessed ambition ,capability and other qualities.I think money is not necessary in business, which is demonstrated by several successful commercialists who at begining haven’t lot of money.

  • heather_zstu8

The love of money is the root of all evil. Contents made poor men rich, discontents made rich men poor. In the world of business, greed is a two-edged sword. It makes one progress, but when it beyond a certain limit, it leads one to fail.

  • Fred-zstu2

How crazy the world it is. One person can buy a company through borrow money from others. That is equal to American life. The American people borrow money from the world and lead a luxury life. The world is changing. if one day American is not strong enough for its military force. Other country will divide it into many parts. Who knows.

After watching this movie, I began know what LBO is, and how a company operates. This movie gives me a deep insight of the relationships between business men, if one want to do business well, he should handle relationship well with his partners.

  • clarinda zstu5

Through the movie, I know more knowledge about business, the LBO, the relationship among the CEO, Board of directors, stockholders. In business, all parties’ interests is important, if you only seek the best profit for yourself, you will lose.

IMF isn’t fulfilling its role in help Jamaica’s economy developed in this movie. The IMF was just created to promote international monetary cooperation, balance international trade between countries and other functions like those. WTO is a organization as well as IMF. After China joined in WTO, China’s economy was promoted in some degree. But I think this organization just makes full use of cheaper labor and resources of China, its real aim is not helping China advance. As long as China becomes powerful and stronger than some developed countries, China will quit WTO and is likely to create a new organization which is similar to WTO.

  • Helen zstu2

China should change its economic model. The government should encourage people to create new things and build its own famous brand. China should use “create in China” instead of “make in China”.
